Windows Live Writer
This entry is posted using Windows Live Writer. Not so bad! The interface is, as name says, ‘Live’. Haha! My friend told me that he has once read a review that seriously criticized this new product of Microsoft. But, this does not turn to be that bad after I checked it out. Actually, I was always looking for a blogging tool which can add (technorati) tags automatically at the end of each post. First, I used w.bloggar that didn’t support that feature (yet). Next, I found performancing. It’s a bit cool. It’s just a firefox extension and it contains basic features with tagging. You may read my review of performancing here. Then, this thing came out.
This product alone will not offer tagging feature. There is a plugin called Tag4Writer by CodePlex. After Install this plugin, tagging is no more hassle.
There is also another plugin called Flickr4Writer. As everyone knows, it’s for photos. I haven’t tried it yet because I don’t use Flickr. Anyway, it’s a good news for WordPress users, isn’t it?
Formatting features are as usual – Font, Color, Alignment, Bullet and Number, and Blockquote. And, this tool also provides spelling checking for bloggers. It’s something quite useful (for me.
). A small thing but I would like to highlight something. It’s a checkbox that makes links open up in a new window. If you used Performancing before, you may find it quite troublesome to go to HTML view and put ‘target=_blank’. Now, it’s over. Most of these features can be triggered by shortcuts. Do you like Microsoft’s shortcuts?
.. such as Shift + F7 for spelling checking.
Moreover, being Microsoft product, they include a feature that allows bloggers to insert Map which is a part of Microsoft Live Local. For non-US residence, it wouldn’t be that attractive.
Update: I encountered an error when I tried to insert an image from Flickr using Flickr4Writer. Actually, no image was appeared. But, image count showed a number. So, I clicked the blank. It said ‘Report Error or Continue’.
Flickr: I am so stupid. I dunno how to sign in to Flickr. It says that I can log in using my Yahoo! account. So, I used it. But, it says that my Yahoo! account is already registered in the database. But, at the same time, it forced me to merge my (logged in) Yahoo! to my Flickr account. Huh? which Flickr account? I don’t have. I just came here to create one.
If anyone knows how to create an account successfully, please tell me. It’d be very much appreciated.
